The Good & the Bad
Honestly, I don’t have a lot of criticism for this book. How to Solve Your Own Murder is a fun, cozy murder mystery with a good sense of humor that has similar vibes to the movie Knives Out. You dive into the story of Frances via her diary entries from her teenage years, and the complicated friendships she had growing up. I really loved following the intertwining stories of Annie and Frances as Annie tries to find her great aunt’s murderer. Annie is witty, has a dry sense of humor that I absolutely love, and she seems to be the only person who believes that her great aunt was actually murdered. Great aunt France’s obsession with her fortune that predicted her murder made her infamous with all of the locals, her nutty reputation making it hard for Annie to find solid answers. As Annie gets closer to the answer the more dangerous it gets for her, so while it is a cozy read, there is some action. If you want a cozy murder mystery with a more Millennial/ Gen Z sense of humor, you should give this book a try. If you’re an audiobook listener, the audiobook does not disappoint and is available here!
